WHAT IS ULMO HONEY?

This silky honey is made from the nectar of the Ulmo (Eucryphia cordifolia), a white flowering tree only found in the Los Lagos region of Southern Chile and Argentina. This beautiful area of Patagonia is sparsely populated and largely untouched by commercial agriculture and the use of pesticides and GMOs.

How is it lab tested?

We send a sample from each harvest to Quality Services International (QSI), an accredited laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and experienced, continuously trained specialists. QSI provides us a comprehensive range of analyses which show that our honey is always pesticide-free, herbicide-free  antibiotic-free, unadulterated, pure, raw honey from the Patagonia region of Chile.

Ulmo vs. Manuka Honey

In a study comparing antimicrobial activity of Ulmo and Manuka honey, it was found that Ulmo had GREATER antimicrobial activity for all 5 strains of MRSA tested and SIMILAR antimicrobial activity against E. coli and P. aeruginosa. Even at much lower concentrations, Ulmo continued to have antimicrobial activity against 3 strains where Manuka had none.

How is Ulmo Rated?

We use the actual percentage of Ulmo pollen found from the QSI testing analysis to communicate how potent each harvest is. Mono-floral distinction begins at 45%.

We are proud of our honey and aim to be as transparent as possible. Online we provide a simplified version of the QSI testing results for each harvest on the market (because let's be honest - it gets pretty scientific.) For those interested, we will happily provide the report in full upon request.

Below are the ratings and test results of our current supply of Ulmo Honey for sale or pre-sale.
